MASSACHUSETTS LAWMAKERS POSTPONE VOTE ON MARRIAGE AMENDMENT: From the Associated Press

Beacon Hill lawmakers decided Wednesday to postpone a vote on an anti-gay marriage amendment.

The House and Senate met briefly in a joint session to debate a handful of proposed changes to the Massachusetts Constitution, including an amendment that would define marriage as a union between one man and one woman.

As soon as they opened the session, lawmakers immediately voted to postpone any debate until February. ...

At the same time, lawmakers are trying to draft compromise legislation that would expand the legal rights of gay couples while outlawing gay marriage.
