NJ SSM CASE STILL AT APPEALS COURT LEVEL: From the Star-Ledger
A legal appeal seeking the legalization of same-sex marriages in New Jersey will not get a speedy hearing by the state Supreme Court, the justices decided yesterday. In a unanimous ruling, the justices turned down a request by gay activists to have the case bypass a lower court and be heard directly by the state Supreme Court. Instead it will follow the usual course and be heard by a three-judge state appeals court. The loser could then ask the state Supreme Court to review the appeals court's decision. more |
