THOUSANDS RALLY IN MINN.: From the St. Paul Pioneer Press
Thousands of Minnesotans rallied today to show their support for what they see as crystal clear: marriage should only be between one man and one woman. Those gathered on the state Capitol lawn said they simply wanted to be able to vote on a constitutional amendment that would define marriage as only the union of one man and one woman. The amendment would make constitutional the current ban on same-sex marriage in law. ... The Minnesota House approved placing the marriage amendment on the 2006 ballot late last month. The full Minnesota Senate has not yet voted on the issue but last month it refused to pull the amendment from committee to the floor for a vote. It then has to be approved by a majority of Minnesotans voting in a general election. The next general election will be in November 2006. more |
